Popular Foods in Myanmar!

Myanmar is home to many strange foods, some of which I've never tried but am hoping to try one day. A very unique but popular food in Myanmar is tea leaf salad. This dish can be a meal, snack, or appetizer. To make this dish, the sour, slightly biter leaves are mixed by hand with shredded cabbage, sliced tomatoes, crunchy deep-fried beans, nuts and peas, a splash of garlic oil and pungent slices of chili and garlic. It also goes well with a plate of rice.
Lephet thoke can be a meal, snack or appetizer.
Another very popular food in Myanmar is Burmese curry. A visit to a Burmese restaurant is more than just a meal, it's a culinary experience. It's typically a meaty, somewhat oily, curry based around
shrimp, pork, or fish.
Delicious burmese curry.
Mohinga is another popular food in Myanmar. Mohinga is Myanmar's unofficial national dish. It is mostly used as a breakfast dish, but is sold by mobile vendors. It can be a common snack at any time of the day. Toppings include a slice of hard boiled egg, deep-fried vegetables, and or flakes of dried chili.
Rice noodles served in a hearty, herbal fish-and shallot-based broth, mohinga is often called Myanmar's national dish.
There are many different types of foods in Myanmar. These are the foods that I thought seemed would be the most interesting, but out of all of them, I would like to try the Mohinga because it is the unofficial national dish of Myanmar and it looks the best in my opinion. If you went to Myanmar what dish would you be most excited to try and why?

Bhutan Foods!

Ah, food, everyone loves it, but it can be expensive. Even small portions can cost up to thirty dollars! Why not get the best bang for your buck and visit Bhutan! Some people think foreign foods can be to spicy or just flat out gross. But as soon as I tell you some of Bhutan's most famous foods, your mouth will be watering in seconds!

Ema Datshi

Ema Datshi is a classic Bhutanese food. The food composes of chilies, Datshi cheese, onions, and butter. It may sound like a weird combination of ingredients but once you add them together, you get a beautiful variation of colors, texture, and flavor. No Bhutanese dinner is complete without it!

Shakam Paa Image result for Shakam Paa

Shakam Paa is not eaten all the time in Bhutan. Shakam Paa is just dried beef cooked with dried chilies and fresh radish. The beef is very chewy because it has been sun-dried for days, and the chilies give it a good spice to eat over rice. The radish give the dish a very nice crunch and just a little sweetness.

See? I said they sound delicious. These aren't even half of the good foods in Bhutan. If I ever go to Bhutan, I will have to eat some of these famous foods!

Ko Pha-Ngan: Not A Moon Party

Ko Pha-Ngan: Not A Moon Party

Ko Pha-Ngan is an island in southeast Asia that is known for its moon parties. If you love solitude beaches you should totally head over! Of course, you’re going to have to travel when the new moon or half moon isn’t present because it’s easier to get a room, prices are reasonable, and there are far less people on the island.

Covered with breathtaking bays, coves, inlets, and beaches, Ko Pha-Ngan is the solitary place to go. Almost 90% of the gulf isle is comprised of unspoiled tropical forest. Though protected by the national park and the majority of the forest is not open to exploration. Some short but challenging hikes await. An example would be Nam Tok Phaeng, it’s a beautiful waterfall that comes in full spate between the months of October to January.

Hungry? Then have one of Thai’s best specialties, “Pad Thai”. A dish recreated across the globe for ages even though I personally think a few people don’t know the true taste of “Pad Thai”. This stir-fried rice noodle dish is served as street food or casual local eateries in Thailand. So if you’re ever in a need of a vacation, check your calendar, pack your suitcase, and have fun in the sun.

Bhutan and its Food

Bhutan is a very unique country, like their food. Lots of their unique cuisines involve chilies and rice, and much more different ingredients. For example, Ema datshi. This dish is just peppers and cheese. Much more unique than U.S. cuisine, definitely, we literally just eat burgers and pizza. I would love to go to Bhutan, and eat Ema datshi because this would make me more resistant to hot peppers, and give me a better understanding of what they eat. I also just realized that lots of their dishes contain Bhutanese cheese, like Ema datshi, Kewa datshi, Shamu datshi, Shakam ema datshi, and lots more. What foods would you eat if you went to Bhutan!

Biryani is spicy rice with meat of your choice. There are many different types of Biryani such as:

  • Beef Biryani
  • Hyderabadi Biryani
  • Sindhi Biryani
  • Afghan Biryani
  • Sri Lankan biryani

Another very popular dish from Pakistan is daal chawal. Daal chawal is lentils on top of rice.
