Dem Elephants Tho

If we saw elephants walking down the street in America wouldn't we find it very strange? Not in India, if they saw an elephant walking down the street they would find it totally normal. Elephants are very important to the Indian culture because it’s apart of their religion, history, natural history, and daily life.  Elephants often take part in parades by leading and carrying people or items that are the part of the festival. Elephants are also great transportation in wet/rugged areas. They have served in armies as living tanks and troop carriers. I've read in other articles that if a elephant winks at you its a sign of good luck. In many places across India, elephants are worshipped as Lord Ganesha. Did you know when grasses are too short to be picked up with its trunk, the elephant scrapes the ground until a pile is formed, then sweeps it into the mouth with the "fingers" of the trunk?
