Snak festivals are actually very common in India. They also have these people called snake charmers. They also have them to worship the Gods. Snake worship is actually popular in other continents. They all have different stories about snakes. In greek mythology they worshiped the serpent God, in the Near East they believed snakes were immortal, etc… So, as you can see not just India worship, have stories, and celebrate snakes other places do as well.
