Food in India is Different
India has many foods that we do not usually eat here. An example is Gobhi Aloo, cauliflower potatoes sauteed with garam masala. There are also food that we would would never dream together on the same plate, such as palak paneer, which is cottage cheese cubes in spinach gravy. They are also things that seem much more typical like something we would have here, like idiappam which is steamed rice noodles. There are things that we could easily make that sound kind of gross, like gur, which is a block of brown sugar that people eat alone. This is as gross as it sounds. My question I leave you with is: will you eat brown sugar plain?

Hey Jack,I liked your post about comparing foods from different regions.A-
ReplyDeletelso, I enjoy Gobi Aloo and other foods from India and I would never eat brown sugar but it’s the same thing as sugar. You should go check out Leo’s post because he talks about more diverse food and they are more disgusting. You didn’t compare the foods, you only talked about them. So,it doesn’t go with your topic.
Of course I'll eat brown sugar, who wouldn't?! Check out Leo's post, he talked about weird Indian foods too. I think, though, if you grow up eating these foods, you would consider them a delicacy! Plus, the foods aren't that weird. For example, some people eat roasted ants and tarantulas! I saw a documentary once on people that teach their kids to hunt giant tarantulas from the age of two! A little dangerous, don't you think? Anyway, culture is culture, and maybe they think American food is the weirdest thing in the world! It's totally their choice, and by the way, we DO have some pretty sick foods...
