Bangladesh Sports and Games

Bangladesh has multiple different things they are known for, some being certain sports. Sports and games are a major part of their community, and it would be rare not to see people and kids enjoying these activities on the streets as you pass by. They are most popular for their excellent cricket playing. In 2011, they hosted the Cricket World Cup with India and Sri Lanka, and was elected to host the 2014 ICC World Twenty20. Football and soccer are the second most popular sports in Bangladesh. Big clubs have passionate fans, who follow every aspect of the club.  The national sport of Bangladesh is kabaddi, in which two teams compete for higher scores by touching and capturing their opponents. Much like dodgeball because it uses a big court. Badminton is widely played here, and continues to grow more and more, along with chess. Though chess has slowly emerged into a major deal in Bangladesh, many people have mastered it and now compete nationally and locally. If you were to live here, which sport would you play and why? Maybe you would just enjoy watching a certain one, and that’s fine. But which do you suppose you would be most interested in?

  1. That was a cool post! I liked it a lot, especially because you talked about all of the sports there. I would recommend Tyler Ozanich’s post, because his is about the sport cricket. Apparently in Tylers post, cricket is the main sport in India. I think that is interesting because in Bangladesh cricket is the most popular sport also. I also looked up that in cricket, there are two umpires on the field, and one that is off the field. I never knew that and I thought that it was interesting.
