Tea Leaf... Salad?

Delicious, right

Now I know what you might be thinking, what is this? This is a national dish of Burma. At first, you might think it's unappealing, but just continue reading... The main ingredients of this dish are; fermented tea leaves, oil, and salt. A cool fact is that Burma is one of the only countries which eats as well as drinks tea. This meal is common in ceremonies and parties. Although, altogether this dish sounds amazing, I think the best sounding part is all the toppings (such as peanuts) because I think it must really add a creative license, and lets each salad be unique. Would you eat this odd sounding dish? I know I would.

  1. Wow! This dish sounds so interesting. I never knew tea leaves were safe to eat. I would definitely try it. The tea leaves would probably have quite an interesting taste. Have you read "Bizarre or Exotic" They also talk about foods that are very interesting food that are not common in the states. Many people drink tea in South Asia, I have never heard of eating it. Do you know what toppings would go the best with this salad?

  2. Dang, this tea leaf salad actually sounds good! I love drinking tea, and I would try this for sure. I do agree with you, the toppings are a creative aspect of the dish. I think if people on Instagram were introduced to this dish, they would go crazy. If I were to choose toppings I might choose fruit, though I'm not sure if that would go well because most people use savory toppings. Besides, I think you should check out Hannah Evan's blog post. Both of y'all's posts are definitely online worthy.
